Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

I came across this Spaghetti Sauce recipe a little
while ago and it's been my staple ever since.
The recipe is originally for lasagna but I have used
this sauce for everything, from actual spaghetti to chicken Parmesan.
One of the things I like the most about it, (besides the homemade goodness!) is it's
a really thick sauce. Not runny like some of the store brand sauces.

1pd. sweet Italian sausage
1 pd ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic

On med. heat, brown ground beef, sausage, onion and garlic in a pot for about 6-7 mins or until
no longer pink. Remove from heat. Add:

1 (28oz) can of crushed tomatoes
2 (8oz) cans of tomato sauce
2 (6oz) cans of tomato paste
1/2 cup of water

Gently stir into the cooked meat, add:

2 TB sugar
2 ts basil leaves chopped (I use dry leaves)
2 TB fresh Italian parsley chopped
1 ts salt
1 ts Italian seasoning
1/2 ts ground pepper

Gently stir into sauce. Cover the pot and let the sauce simmer on low heat for 1 hour
and thirty minutes.
